Are you thirsty? Looking for a cheap beverage? Likewise for some cheap food? Mappy Hour can help you out!
Claiming to be able to find the shortest route from where you are to where there’s a happy hour, Mappy Hour has you enter your current location and then pulls up a variety of Happy Hour options for you to choose from. The listings detail the address of the establishment, distance from where you are, the hours of happy hour, any specials that might be available, and also has room for user reviews.
I checked out the usefulness of the site by putting in my home address, along with the address of three hotels where I frequently stay. This represents locations in four different states, with which I have a fairly high degree of familiarity, and I felt it would be a reasonable test of the site.
My home address pulled up lots of options, and I got a handful of ideas on new places to try. I felt this was remarkable for a rather suburban location.
The hotel locations were a little less helpful. This came as a real surprise, because I figured the areas around hotels would be rife with happy hour options, especially since they are in urban locations. Not so. All three hotel locations were missing several prime happy hours spots in the very near vicinity, and two of three didn’t show anything nearby at all.
While I realize that much of the information collected here relies on user contributions, it seems that there were lots of very big gaps that need filling. Till that happens, I’ll just rely on good word of mouth from fellow travelers. Do you have a favorite happy hour that you’d like to share?
