Back to Basics: Reconfirming Your Flight

airplane thumb Back to Basics: Reconfirming Your Flight Although at one time it was a requirement, in general, it is no longer necessary to call the airline to reconfirm your flight.  If you just show up at the airport for your flight, things will be fine.  You also do not need to call to confirm a return flight.

Since most airlines now have online booking and flight information, I check on my flight the day before heading to the airport.  Since I do online check in (available 24 hours prior to flight departures), I can check in and note any changes that may have been made all at the same time — change in time of departure, aircraft type (which means seating will likely change), etc.

With all the airline bankruptcies of late, I’d suggest that following the news may be the best way to find out if your flight is going according to plan.
