MJ’s Travel Favorites 12-27-09

0

It’s the Christmas edition of Travel Favorites, and the listing is sparse – both due to my busy schedule as well as it being a relatively slow time for blogging in general.  Still, it would be a shame to miss these great travel reads:

  • christmas tree ornament Nomadic Matt explains what it’s like being on the road for Christmas.  It’s a different kind of celebrating, spent typically among strangers, but has its own special rewards.
  • The Carey Adventures has another great photo, and Peter is asking for a little assistance from readers and fans of his photos.  He’s set a goal to raise money for a photo expedition, and if you’re a fan with a few extra dollars, you can make a donation in recognition of all the great work he’s shared.
  • PlanetEye Traveler has some great photos of holiday decorations from around the world.   I love the sights, and look forward to learning how to take these night shots.
  • Autopia gives us a peek at the interior of the Dreamliner.  Now, let’s hope the airlines don’t mess it up trying to cram too much into too little space!
  • Intelligent Travel announces the launch of the Bus 2Antarctica.  The bus ride(s) begin January 1st, 2010, and sounds like quite an adventure.
  • Europe ala Carte explore Montenegro.  I ran out of time to make a visit (when in Croatia earlier this year), but it offers a beautiful Adriatic coastline and some very budget friendly prices.
  • The Perrin Post offers suggestions for coping with holiday travel, and these are good suggestions for any time of the year.  We all have our special tips, often ones that we don’t share with anyone other than our closest friends, but these are worth committing to memory.
  • Novel Destinations tempts Sherlock Holmes fans with this literary look at London.  Fans of the novels, or the recently release movie, will find plenty of reasons to start planning a vacation.
  • PlanetEye Traveler – Edinburgh explains Scottish Christmas traditions, past and present.  Anyone for black buns?
  • Inside the Travel Lab takes us along on a Segway Tour of Barcelona.  If you’ve never been on a Segway, this is a great way to see a city.
  • Luxuo has a photo and the specifications of Tiger Wood’s yacht, Privacy.  Talk about roughing it while on vacation!

I hope you’ll spare some time this holiday week and read these great travel posts.  Be sure to leave a comment and tell them that MJ sent you!
