Is a Snow Vacation in Your Future?
I really don’t like the snow. Well, to be honest, it’s not the snow I dislike, it’s having to drive in it, navigate the daily chores of life, and I really, REALLY hate to be cold. Thankfully, we don’t get too much snow is Seattle, and when we do, you’ll find me burrowed in at home.
Still, I think snow is beautiful, romantic, and with a bit of allure that I can’t quite understand. Maybe what I need is experience the snow on its own terms. A vacation, where I don’t have to worry about the details of getting around in the snow, leaving me free to just enjoy the experience. A sort of Zen experience, becoming one with the snow, if you will.
From Seattle, one of the closest options for a snow immersion vacation would be a Utah Resort. Utah is an easy getaway weekend, far enough away that I have to throw myself fully into the experience, but not so far as to be prohibitively expensive.
I’d like to enjoy a few outdoor activities. A little cross country skiing, perhaps, or maybe some snow shoeing. Maybe a romantic sleigh or carriage ride, an indoor spot where I could sit with a beverage and watch the snow come down. (Some big bonus points if that spot had a fireplace and the beverage was a hot cocoa with a dash of peppermint schnapps.)
Once indoors, a few creature comforts would be a nice reminder that just because it’s cold outside, I don’t have to be cold inside. A nice cozy room, some hearty comfort food, and maybe even a hot tub where I could enjoy the crisp winter air while keeping toasty and warm.
I think it’s possible that I could have a quick snow weekend without freezing to death. It may never take the place of the beach, but it’s nice to do something different every now and again.
What do you prefer – the cold, crisp snow vacation or the warm, sunny beach vacation?
