Learn About Blogging in the Puerto Vallarta Sun

I’ve had a pretty hectic travel schedule over the last six weeks, three press trips to some fantastic destinations – a Surf & Turf road trip to the coast and interior of central Oregon, some time a little farther south on the Pacific Coast in the Monterey and Big Sur area, and then to the north to Quebec City – and a few days in Los Angeles for BlogWorld Expo where I was the leader for the Travel Blogging Track.

No doubt about it, blogging has opened a lot of doors and opportunities for me, and I love talking about about those things – travel, travel blogging, and blogging in general.

For many people dipping their toe in the blogging water, writing about their family and life is an easy way to start and that’s probably why parent blogging has become such a powerful blogging niche.  Blogging pal, Jennifer Miner, is organizing Mom Blogger Camp 2012 to help all levels of bloggers sharpen their skills and provide inspiration for others to start a blog.  Not limited just to moms, the conference will offer daily seminars that focus on improving blogging skills and brand and business building, with seminar leaders available for follow-up questions and conversation.

Here are some of the speakers and what you can expect to take away:

  • Blogging as Memoir – A seminar on this writing genre from Amy Whitley should be useful whether you’re interested in writing your own memoir, story, or just improve your writing.
  • Photography & Video – Break out sessions led by Peter Carey West and Adria Richards to help you learn and grow your skill in these visual story telling methods.
  • Community Management – Deb Ng will lead this session helping you learn how to develop, grown, and manage a solid fan base.
  • Working with PR and Blog Monetization – Always a hot topic, and one that seems to change constantly, you’ll get some tips and ideas on how to navigate these issues from Anne Taylor Hartzell.
  • Legal Issues in Blogging – Important business considerations like copyright, running contests, and the evolving regulations in blogging will be covered by Mary Jo Manzanares (hey wait – that’s me!).
  • Aparna Vashisht-Rota –  Help keep your kids (and yourself, for that matter) by understanding the ramifications of the digital footprint.
  • Jenny Lawson – Want to become a personality blogger?  The Bloggess will tell more about being famous on the internet.

The 3-night Blogger Camp will be held at Velas Vallarta, an oceanfront all-suite, all-inclusive resort and convention center located on Banderas Bay, Puerto Vallarta.  The camp format provides plenty of educational opportunities, along with networking times with session leaders and other attendees at one of the three swimming pools, at the spa or fitness center, over meals or in the lounge.  Who says learning can’t be fun?!

Conveniently scheduled in January, it’s provides the perfect opportunity to launch the new year with a plan for your blogging success.  And let’s face it, it’s also a nice break after the stressful holiday season and for those of us from cold weather destinations, it’s a little hit of sun that can help us get through the rest of winter.
