Sunday Stories for July 19th, 2015

It’s been a busy week full of projects, including one that I’m hoping to launch publicly next month. I’m creeping closer and closer to being happy with things, and it’s something that I’ve been thinking about (and talking about) doing for quite awhile. Look for an official announcement later this month.

Other time consuming reading this month included researching a new camera. Small and functional, yet capable of doing a bit more than my point-and-shoot, is what I’m looking for. Based on advice from some friends who do great job with their photos, I’m leaning toward one of the smaller mirrorless cameras. I think it would go a long way to improving the photography here on my site. Stay tuned.

Here’s what caught my eye this week:

12 Popular Wines You May Be Mispronouncing

I discovered this site a couple of weeks ago, and thought it was time to share it with you. They’ve take the snob out of winery, making it approachable and fun for those of us who just want to find something delicious to put in our glass. Check out their wine pairing information as well.

A friend of mine recently taught me how to properly say “Cotes du Rhone” (hint: the “s” is silent). I’ll admit, my tendency to sound out every letter can be mildly embarrassing at times, especially when it comes to wines.

Fly HavanaAir Houston To Havana

Visiting Cuba has been on my bucket list for a long time – and with regular service operating out of Houston, it’s getting to look like more and more of a possibility. Who wants to go to Cuba?

Miami-based HavanaAir Charters will begin weekly, direct service from Houston International Airport to Havana (HAV) giving U.S. West Coast gateway cities a more convenient and faster route to Cuba.

These easy avocado eggs will revolutionize your mornings

Breakfast is my least favorite meal of the day — unless it’s eaten at noon-ish and called brunch. But this egg dish may be something I could give a try.

It’s as easy as cracking an egg into an avocado and baking it (so basically, foolproof). Plus it’s full of protein and omega-3s.

Researchers discover seaweed that tastes like bacon and is twice as healthy as kale

Can this be true? I generally pass on seaweed, it’s just too salty and fishy tasting for me. But if this is true, it may become my new favorite food. Must try it.

The seaweed, a form of red marine algae, looks like translucent red lettuce. It also has twice the nutritional value of kale and grows very quickly. Did we mention it tastes like bacon?
