Basel Cellars in Walla Walla, Washington

With trips to Orlando, followed by a quick getaway to Walla Walla for some wine tasting, this past week has been a busy one. Although wifi was plentiful (and free), I found myself relying more on mobile than my laptop as I enjoyed my time on the road. I’m making a note to myself to try to do that more often.

With summer in full swing here in Seattle, I’ll be sticking pretty close to home for awhile, so stay tuned for some things to do hear in the beautiful Pacific Northwest.

Now, on the a few stories for today’s recommended reading.

Where to Find the Best Hotel Wi-Fi at Chains Around the World

Hotel wifi is the bane of the travelers life. Common complaints run from cost to quality, and it seems like travelers aren’t given much consideration. This list rates the top chain hotels around the world on quality of connection, a real consideration for road warriors.

U.S. hotels charging for Wi-Fi in Asia evidently helps produce better Wi-Fi quality there than in the U.S. or Europe as chains like Marriott and Hilton, which both have paid models in the U.S. as well as Asia, have lesser quality Wi-Fi at their American properties.

The Godfrey Hotel Chicago: Sleekly Elemental

Downtown Chicago may be rife with hotels, but I’m always looking for some place a little different. The Godfrey Hotel looks like a good choice.

This was a bit of a tear jerker, for the couple taking part in the experiment as well as for me. As somenne on the “other” side of life, I’ve already been through many of the aging stages. We should all be so fortunate to have a partner who’s standing next to us, aging right along with us.

As part of a creative experiment, a team of make-up artists helped Tavis and Kristie, a young couple, transcends time one month before their marriage. The above video shows how they look like in their 50s, 70s and 90s.

How Italians Drink Espresso in the Summer

I love my espresso, but the hot summer weather means I often pass it up. Here’s how to drink it iced, it a way that is claimed to be just like the Italians drink it.

When the temperature starts rising and their daily espresso is just too hot to sip, Italians often go for a caffè shakerato—an ice-cold “shaken coffee” that’s enjoyed at the beginning of a hot summer’s day or at the end of a meal (maybe even spiked).
