This past weekend I was a guest on Travel Planners Radio Show, an opportunity to discuss travel to Boulder, Colorado, with hosts Sue and Kevin McCarthy. I’ve known Sue and Kevin for years. We often saw one another at travel shows or conferences, catching on where we’ve been, where we’re going, and sharing great destinations. Since that’s not happening in 2020, it was fun to catch up on their radio show; an opportunity for me to share a recent trip (earlier this year) to Boulder. I think Sue and Kevin would enjoy a trip to Boulder and I think you would, too. Take a listen to the show (in two parts due to a live commercial break that has been removed for this recording). You listen to the Travel Planners Radio Show on their flagship station, WCGO in Chicago as […]

Visiting the Caribbean Coast of Colombia
This week’s episode of the Where Else to Go podcast features Gemma from Two Scots Abroad. Gemma talks about their adventures on the Caribbean coast of Colombia. After a couple of months in Peru and Bolivia. she kept getting recommendations to go to Colombia. After time spent in the bigger cities, Bogota, Medellin, and Cartagena, she ventured out to the coast and found her heart stolen by both the beaches and the towns of Santa Marta, Costeño, Tayrona National Park and also Minca, a tiny town tucked away in the Sierra Nevada mountains. Take a listen (and you can get the full show notes here). Remember, you can also find and subscribe to the podcast on iTunes and subscribe to the podcast on Google Play.

It’s only been a couple of weeks since we’ve returned from my 15-day, 8 country, Viking Homelands cruise on the Viking Sea. Venice might not seem like a “where else to go” destination, but if you’ve heard people complain about the city being crowded, smelly, or hot, maybe you’re just not seeing the right side of Venice. In episode #8 of my podcast, Jennifer Dombrowski talks about the island of Venice. Some that she recommends include: Burano: famous for its fisherman and lacemakers. Jennifer wrote a guide to Burano that’s worth checking out. Mazzorbo: connected to Burano by a small wooden footbridge, most visitors never set foot on the sleep island home to the only winery and vineyard in the Venetian Lagoon Murano: famous for its glassblowers Lido: home to the only beach in the Venetian Lagoon and perfect for exploring on a bicycle Poveglia: the haunted and abandoned island Giudecca: once home to grand palaces, its now mostly residential but has great […]

However, it’s an amazing experience to see the animals up close since they have no fear of humans. You will see some amazing land animals like the land iguana or Galapagos Tortoise, land birds like the Blue Footed Booby, and in the water you will swim with seals and an occasional penguin at the Equator! There are many options on how to experience the Galapagos. You can fly into one […]

Read MoreNew Podcast: Where Else to Go
Today is a pretty big day for me. After months and months of research and practice (also known as dithering around), I’m launching my new podcast – Where Else to Go. The podcast focuses on value luxury travel – that sweet spot where price and experience intersect to create WOW! Value luxury helps you decide when to save and when to splurge, and makes sure you get the most out of every travel experience. Another reason for starting the podcast is that the female voice and angle is missing from what else it out there. I’ve been listening to podcasts for years, including many in the travel niche, and found the female approach to travel is grossly under-represented. So I jumped into the scrum. My half hour podcast is designed to help you decide where to go, but more importantly […]
